Aaron Boone, former Cincinnati Reds player, was the Grand Marshall in the 2012 Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade. KEN BRUNNER/THE LEDGERThe Greater Cincinnati area celebrated Reds Opening Day on Thursday, April 5, with the Opening Day Parade in Downtown Cincinnati. The Reds defeated the Miami Marlins 4-0 at Great American Ball Park today.

The following is a compilation of quotes from area baseball fans in response to the hype of Opening Day in Cincinnati:

The city comes together. No matter where we are, the Cincinnati natives cheer on the Reds. Helps when they win opening day! Bonus! -- Ginny Castle, Fairfield

I have loved baseball since i was a kid. People say they hate watching it and that blows my mind. Every pitch starts a situation. Every strike called, ball called, hit, strikeout, walk. Every time the situation changes, a different kind of pitch and pitch location changes, the defense reacts, offensive strategy changes. It's a game of chess, but on a grass field and much more exciting. -- Brandon Bouley, Hamilton

The parade, and the whole city comes together and celebrates and has a great time. Fun filled and family friendly. -- Bridgette LaGory, West Chester

Getting to hear to walk-out songs of each player. -- Lauren Green, Trenton

The whole city comes together to celebrate and it's the beginning of baseball season. -- Michelle Richmond, Cincinnati
